BT Rugby have signed a multi million pound deal to become front of shirt sponsors of Scottish Pro12 clubs Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby. The new four year shirt sponsorship deal begins August 2013 and has been termed by the Scottish Rugby Union ( owners of both Glasgow and Edinburgh) as the biggest ever sponsorship deal in both clubs’ history.

The deal is intriguing because BT Rugby have found an indirect way to promote themselves on rivals Sky, who have the rights to telecast Pro12 and Heineken Cup matches involving both Glasgow and Edinburgh for the 2013/14 season.

BT had earlier wished to advertise its services on Sky, who promptly refused and the matter went to Ofcom, who ruled in Sky’s favour.

The new BT rugby sponsored Glasgow and Edinburgh kits are expected to be unveiled in August, with Glasgow already announcing that Macron will unveil their kits on August 19
