USA Rugby BLK Kit Deal- BLK to make United States Rugby Jerseys from 2014 July

BLK have signed a new kit deal with USA rugby that will see the latter don BLK apparel from July 2014 onwards. The deal is for a period of three years and will cover the 2015 Rugby World Cup as well the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

The BLK US rugby shirt deal ends the latter’s previous association with Canterbury.

BLK are on an aggressive marketing spree and have also added the Natal Sharks, Ospreys and Toulouse to their list of growing clients.

  1. The irony of this is that KooGa made the USA’s kit prior to them jumping ship to Canterbury, a move which prompted a lawsuit for breach of contract. Now the are going with BLK which is made by…wait for it…KooGa of Australia.

    • Actually, Matt, you have a couple points wrong.

1.) KooGa lawsuit for breach of contract actually had to do with promotional items and USA Rugby wore Adidas briefly before wearing Canterbury.

2.) BLK is not affiliated with the KooGa main office. BLK is a group of investors who bought the rights to distribute KooGa in Australia but then separated themselves out into a new brand when they believed that the KooGa home office wasn’t supporting them despite them (the now-BLK folks) doing all the work promoting KooGa in the Southern Hemisphere.
