This is appears the new Chiefs Super Rugby jersey 2016, Waikato Chiefs’ new home kit for the 2016 SR season. The shirt was officially unveiled on December 7, 2015 but leaked pics appeared prior to the kit release.
The Chiefs have switched from BNZ to the Gallagher Group as front of the jersey sponsors in 2016.
The Chiefs, two time Super Rugby winners in 2012 and 2013, have consistently made it to the playoffs in recent years. In 2015, they finished fifth, hampered by Aaron Cruden’s injury, and lost to the Highlanders in their qualifier.
The Chiefs have lost some key players from their 2015 season, especially in the backs, where the likes of Heem, Hosea Gear and Tim Nanai Williams have all left. Upcoming youngster Liam Squire has gone to the Highlanders, while last season’s captain Liam Messam has also parted ways with the club.
