The Springboks have today (August 28, 2013) announced a switch in kit suppliers, with ASICS signing a five year deal with SARU to replace Canterbury as the South African national rugby team’s official kit partners. The ASICS Bok sponsorship deal will begin in January 2014 and will run till December 2019. It therefore means that the Boks will be wearing ASICS strips at both the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups.
South Africa will wear their current Canterbury jerseys till the end of 2013.
The deal represents a major coup for ASICS, who are based in Japan and are best known for their current sponsorship of the Australian national cricket team.
Be interesting to see what they come up with, despite making some of the best boots known to man I wasn’t aware Asics made rugby shirts.
